MS MIDNATSOL and MS TROLLFJORD

October 2013 saw two new Revell kits:  MS MIDNATSOL and MS TROLLFJORD,  owned by Hurtigruten and sailing the famous Norwegian coastal voyage, the daily passenger and freight shipping service along Norway’s western and northern coast between Bergen and Kirkenes.  Hurtigruten ships sail almost the entire length of the country, completing the round-trip journey in 11 days. The trip has been described as the “World’s Most Beautiful Sea Voyage,”  The two sisterships are beautifully crafted models which are a joy to build.  They differ in the layout of the upper deck to give two similar but distinctive models.

MS Midnatsol was built by Fosen mekaniske verksteder in Rissa, Norway in 2003. She is the fourth ship to sail for Hurtigruten to bear this name.  Construction started: October 17, 2001 Launched: April 26, 2002.

Tonnage: 16,140 grt, decks: 10, Speed: 15 knots, Capacity: 1000 passengers, 644 beds,45 cars.

MS Trollfjord was built by Fosen mekaniske verksteder in Rissa, Norway in 2002. Built for  Troms Fylkes Dampskibsselskap she sailed for them till 2006 when the company merged and the present Hurtigruten group was formed.  She  is named after the Norwegian Trollfjord.
